This glitter wig makes me crazy with desire. I want one in every color, RIGHT NOW. Thanks, WoW, for the inspiration!
I need a fresh book badly. There is a mini “library” at work where people have donated books, but for some weird reason it’s mostly all true crime with special emphasis on serial killers. Greeeeeat, that’s just what people with schizophrenia need, Jesus. There was a biography of Bette Davis that I borrowed, but it was authorized and that means booooring.
The mini library also contains lots of thrillers a’la Patterson (mer), “throwaway fiction” as I like to call it. I’m totally over my fictional thrillers phase right now. I need MEMOIRS MEMOIRS, preferably by authors with a shame-inducing history of some sort of drug/alcohol addiction. I appreciate the realness.
* Quote by Bette Davis, of course.
Ok let’s see…You have already read Louise’s book…how’s about these:
“The Times We Had” by Marion Davies (WR Hearst’s mistress)
“Not Simply Divine” (about you know who)
“LuLu In Hollywood” that’s self explanatory for you!
“My Mother’s Keeper” remember I did the reviews on amazon
“My Gorgeous Life” Dame Edna Everage
thats all I can think of off the top of my head…
Also any book about Montgomery Clift will be about his addictions. Tab Hunter’s autobiography was interesting, and of course “Swanson on Swanson” by your “great aunt” Gloria.
It’s also been ages since you read “A Low life in High Heels” about Holly. Plus Jackie Curtis’ book is called “Superstar In a Housedress”
sorry I keep coming back, but you know me and my filofax in my head remembering shit…
And as for a good thriller…well, a beautiful swedish vampire film called “Let The Right One In” was fabulous.
All the books at my work are romance novels, the worst of the worst!!
“Not Simply Divine” is so fucking bitchy and negative towards Divine, I actually border on rage when I read it. I’ve kept it because it’s a gift from YOU, Kissy. “Swanson on Swanson” bores the poop outta me.
“Lulu in Hollywood” looks REALLY good, can’t believe I haven’t read that one yet. I just ordered “My Mother’s Keeper” on Amazon for 12 cents–thanks for supporting my habit!
Fuck I love Dame Edna!
OK I just ordered “Superstar in a Housedress” too–the cover is the same photo that I painted! I love Jackie.
“Let the Right One In” = Perfection
I watched a really good documentary on meth and gay culture but I’ve debated on whether or not to recommend it to you Kissy because it might trigger the shit out of you. I don’t know what your comfort level is.
OH! Have you seen “Rick & Steve: The Happiest Gay Couple in the World”??? There’s an episode where the characters go to SF and it’s hilarious, there’s even a Sister of Perpetual Indulgence character, gotta love that shit.
“Fall to Pieces” Mary Forsberg Weiland
I love books about heroin addiction. This was a good one.
Is that good? I’ll wait for the price to go down. “Just Kids” by Patti Smith looks really good too, I’ll wait for it to get cheaper. I’m a cheap ass.
