louise detail
The Louise painting has gone through some ch-ch-changes! Notably, a large application of black glitter. That is…another large application of black glitter. And some sequins. I may have the rethink the sequins.

grapes block
Pieces of the lap quilt I’m currently working on. I wanted a small quilt project, and what else was I going to do with scraps of grapes batik? Hmmm? Exactly.

ronia smiles
Recently we were visited by the cutest baby ever.

ronia on the floor
Sigh, melt.

mother and daughter
Sweet mother and daughter.

We just watched the first season of “Eastbound and Down”, and it’s hysterically funny. I’m currently working on a painting of a redheaded female set against a background of sky blue with cherry blossoms. I’m considering the pros of going vegan again. That is all.

purple
We decided after all the whining and bitching about how boring our house looks from the outside to take matters into our own hands and plant some stuff.

planters
It’s so satisfying to watch the flowers explode out of the earth. I turn straight into Maude, cooing, “I like to watch things grow.”

birthday cake
The birthday boy requested a red velvet cake. I was determined to make it from scratch, and let’s just say it turned out, um, below average? But the cream cheese frosting was perrrrfect.

china
We’ve been doing a lot of spring cleaning around here. It feels good.

pink rose
I’m thoroughly enjoying the “foliage” setting on my camera. Mostly this is because ever since Burning Man dust has gotten into the camera and on certain settings a big glob of dust shows up in every shot. I just work around it.

Today’s goals are to photograph some cherry trees down the street that have been dazzling my eyeballs and complete at least 3 squares on the lap quilt I’ve been working on.

I quit my job. It’s a painful subject right now, and I’m trying to focus on positive things, but there it is.

I am posting lovely springtime happy pictures. Ready? Ready!
purple plants
These are from a recent trip to the dog park.

purple plants close
I don’t know what these purple plants are, but I like ‘em.

posterior
Never get tired of looking at that fantastic posterior, mmm mmmm.

spring chacos
The first excursion of the year involving sandals deserves at least one portrait, I do believe.

It’s good to be outside.

More photos from First Thursday on April 1st:

I needed to take photos of street art in Pioneer Square that day, berry berry badly.

We wandered around the artist booths, and everything looked amazing.

This dude was nice.

green and red
I liked this painting, which he offered to sell to me at a very reasonable price (I didn’t buy it).

beautiful bags
I looooooved the purses in this stand, ooh baby baby oooh.

aqua flowers
This one was like, “Liz! Hiiii! Take me with you! LIZ!” (I didn’t buy it)

hooper
I overheard someone ask these performers if they do birthday parties. I recall an enthusiastic, “Yes we do!”

So I was doing good,  lavishing the booth artists with praise, taking their business cards and snapping photos and telling everyone about my art across the street, not spending any money…and then I reached the Mark Berry stand.

mark berry stand
Hmmm? What’s this?

berry nice

Guess what REALLY caught my eye?

What did I buy?
1. A print of a mushroom cloud
2. A print of grapes
3. A print of Janis Joplin
4. A print of Louise Brooks

Stay tuned for the answer!

Here’s the thing: blogging should never be a chore. Chores = bores, and who likes that?

Now for some photos from First Thursday on April 1st:
bear
It’s easier to take photos from the car when you are the passenger, not the driver.

brody
The Boy, aware of my obsession with hand puppets, bought me this dog hand puppet during his trip to Ikea that day.

brody on the shoulder
I named him Brody, and brought him along for the ride.

brody with jeans
In this photo set there are about 30 photos of Brody–I condensed them down considerably.

turquoise
I had a hard time picking out an appropriately “artistic” outfit that night.

sparkle
You can’t go wrong with glitter mary janes or turquoise tights.

LSC street view
View of “The Last Supper Club“, where some of my paintings will be hanging out for the rest of this month.

liz and case
We placed the smaller paintings in this case, which can be viewed from the street.

The Boy’s parents came by, which was sweet of them.

The Boy’s dad took this shot of our shoes. I like it.

3 paintings at LSC
Some of my larger paintings, inside the LSC. Not all are for sale, but I had to make tags anyway.

glass man
This guy was showing his glass art and was also going to be reading out loud some of his poetry later on in the evening. We left early to go browse the art stands and eat Indian food.

LSC djs
These d.j.s were from Tacoma. One of them requested that I e-mail him any pictures I took, but I think I may have lost his contact information. Phooey.

More photos to come.
